Beginner Rug Hooking Workshop - Sheep!

Pilot Butte, SK

January 10, 2026
 

In this class you will learn the basics of how to hook. You will learn how to pull a loop, the common materials and equipment used and techniques on how to finish your rugs. You will also learn a little bit about the history of rug hooking in the Maritimes and have a chance to see a few traditional rugs. You will complete a small piece of art (5'x5') for your wall from start to finish and take it home ready to hang. Most of all, you'll have a chance to have some fun and chat with others just like a traditional hook-in.

 

All materials provided including a simple pine frame, backing, hook, and all wool.

 

Date:  Saturday January 10, 2026

Time:  10am to 4pm

Cost:  $72.00

Age:  18+

Max Class Size: 15

Refunds: No refunds or credits unless the class is cancelled. 

Registration closes:  January 2, 2026

Original costs are generously subsidized 10% by the Saskatchewan Lotteries Communities Grant.

Beginner Rug Hooking Workshop - Sunflower

Regina, SK

January 17 and January 18

Join Shelly and other new rug hookers to learn the basics of rug hooking and complete your own piece of fibre art. In this class you will learn the basics of how to hook. You will learn how to pull a loop, the common materials and equipment used and techniques on how to finish your rugs. You will also learn a little bit about the history of rug hooking and have a chance to see a few traditional rugs as well as some modern ones hooked by Shelly. You will learn everything necessary to complete a small piece of art (~5”x5”) from start to finish. Most of all, you'll have a chance to have some fun and chat with others just like a traditional hook-in.

 

All materials provided including a simple pine frame to hook on, backing with hand drawn pattern, rug hook, and all wool necessary to complete the piece.

 

Date:  There will be two separate classes to choose from on either January 17 or January 18 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Location: Rumours Handcraft Gallery, 4649 Rae St, Regina

Cost:  $90.00

Age:  16+

I will be a vendor at the MacKenzie Art Gallery Holiday Bazaart Makers Market 2025! Vibank Threads and Treads, Vibank, SK

There is going to be so much to see in Vibank on this day! I'll have a booth at the artisan market and there's also a quilt show, car show, pancake breakfast, bike parade, and many other things! Truly something for everyone! 

This will be my first year attending this event as a vendor! I look forward to seeing you at my booth. I'll have original fibre art for sale as well as cards and kits and some other surprises. I hope to see you there!

Craft Is...a fine craft market, Regina, SK

October 2 - 5, 2025
 

Join the Saskatchewan Craft Council in celebrating its 50th anniversary by at Craft Is… Fine Craft Market, held in Regina this year!

SaskGalleries’ annual fine art fair Art Now is celebrating its 10th year and the Craft Council is partnering with them again to host a craft market at the same venue. The market will be held in Hall B of the Viterra International Trade Centre in the REAL District.

This unique celebration of handmade art will showcase the talent and craftsmanship of various members of the Craft Council.
