Silver Willow Fibre and Textile Festival
Silver Willow Fibre and Textile Festival is Saskatoon's first festival of its kind and I'm so excited to be involved! I'll be teaching a workshop at the festival.
From the festival organizers:
A fibre centric gathering of maker’s and artisans. At Silver Willow Fibre Festival you’ll find the novelty of Indie dyer’s, the everlasting charm of yarn, and the tactile delight of rovings, batting, and fibre locks, all ready for use. You find tools of the trade, and a showcase of virgin fleeces, which is where all things created with fibre begin. You’ll discover a few side markets as well as we invite specialty artisans to join us. At the Silver Willow you’ll witness the marvel of the makers, learn new skills in our workshops, and discover new rabbit holes of creativity.
Manitoba Fibre Festival
The Manitoba Fibre Festival is a unique annual gathering connecting local fibre farmers with the crafting community in a relaxed creative atmosphere. A family friendly event, the Festival offers demonstrations of many crafts from ancient lace-making techniques to machine knitting and sheep shearing; a curated fibre art show, workshops, and a wonderful market.
This will be by third year teaching at this festival and it's been so much fun every year. I hope you'll join me! Here are the details about the workshop:
Hooking the Prairie Landscape
In this class you will learn the basics of rug hooking and complete your own piece of fibre art. Students will learn how to pull a loop, the common materials and equipment used, and techniques on how to finish your rugs.
